A wonderful weekend can more than make up for a rough week. That's been my experience anyway.
Yesterday we went to local fair. Sadly, I left my camera at home. That was a real bummer, too cause the people watching was priceless. We had bad fair-food, rode over-priced rides and Lili won really bad stuffed animals by throwing darts and picking up ducks.
But that wasn't the most fun.
The day before we shared popcorn and a movie. Snuggled on the sofa and loved each others company.
Still not the most fun.
Friday we had a great play-date with good friends. The weather was cold but beautiful and the kids were completely energized by it. Me, not so much but it's hard to be too uncomfortable when your child is having such a great time.
The most fun happened yesterday. Where this post all started.
Lili lost her first tooth!!!!
It was dangling by a thread, or a root as the case may be. She cried a little saying she really didn't like the whole thing. But my brave girl sat tight while Daddy pulled that sucker right out! There was a little blood followed by a great deal of excitement! Lili danced around, marvelling at her tooth. She washed the tooth, named it 'Ruthy the Toothy' and then we bagged it so that it could be replaced by cash or a whistle. Whichever the Tooth fairy happened to have on hand.
Lili is a pretty pragmatic kid. She asked me if the Tooth fairy was real. I asked her what she thought about it. She said, "No. I think parents come into your room, take the tooth and leave money. But what do you do with the tooth when you take it?" What am I gonna do in the face of that logic? Bullshit her? I told her she was right, I would come and take her tooth. I asked, "Does it make it any less fun to lose it and get something? She grinned, that new space now clearly showing the big tooth pushing through and said, "Nope. It's still fun."
