Contest Foo

We have a winner!

Thanks to everyone who entered the contest!  Hope you had fun coming up with weird captions.  And the winner is....

But before I tell you who won, I want to talk about the judging process.  Mostly because it's pretty damn funny.  Big B was the judge.  As I mentioned earlier I decided not to use a random number generator because, though they are random they don't have a sense of humor.  Why would I burden Big B with the awesome and daunting task of choosing a winner?  I mean, doesn't he have enough pressure with work, family, fencing...all that crap?

Big B was the judge because he doesn't think LOLCats are funny.  Go ahead.  Read that sentence again.   I'll wait.

My logic was that if one caption made him smile, or maybe smirk, it had to be pretty good.  Last night I pinned him to the sofa and read all the entries to him.  He smiled and may have actually giggled.  Big B's choice was:  Enid!  Congrats Enid!  I'll email you with a few questions, (you didn't actually think that Koigu would be the only prize now did you?) and get your prize in the mail as soon as I can.

Contest!

Awhile back I passed the 1500 comment mark.  I'd intended to hold a contest but moving, flooding, bad carpeting and equally rotten purchases seemed to conspire against me.  I persevered and,  as threatened, now proudly present the contest and it's rules.

Contest:  In the style of LOL Cats, write a caption for this picture:

Dscn1556Rules: Leave your caption in the comments, (only 1 entry per person please!).  Contest will closed on Sunday, August 12 at midnight.  The winner will be chosen by Big B.  ( Although random number generators really even the playing field, they don't get funny.  Big B does and he has the added bonus of being fair.  Very nice.)
If you'd like to copy the photo and put the caption on it, you have my permission.  Just put the photo on your server and leave me a link for your blog.

So what's at stake here?  One word:  Koigu.

Good luck!

We have a winner!

Dscn0831 A big congrats goes to J.P. who's suggestion of a "Men in Black" meets James Bond sort of affair won Big B's heart!  Thanks J.P.!  You'll soon have some prizes headed your way, dude!

Big B had a tough time deciding.  He loved everyone's suggestions and, as proof, he took lots of notes, ranked each idea and then re-read each entry before picking his favorite.  Big B is nothing if not thorough!

Thanks to everyone who entered a suggestion.  Ya'll are a creative and scary lot and I loved every minute of it.  Once Ken gets tired of this new look I'm confident that another contest will be required.

Dressing Ken Contest

*EDITED: I have 4.75 ounces of the Merino.  Sorry for the mistake!

Thanks to everyone who has entered the contest so far!  To inspire even more flights of fancy for dressing Ken, I thought I'd post pictures of the prizes.

Ken_and_roving For you spinners I have have 8 ounces of Merino in a color called Sandalwood and 0.5 ounces of Angelina in Enchanted Forest Flash to blend into your spinning.  (The Angelina is much prettier than the picture would have you believe.)  Ken loved modeling the Merino.  He was warm and cozy and, for the first time in a long time, completely covered.  This came as a great relief to the models.

For the knitters we have a knitting board and a skein of Tibetan wool.  Ken didn't like holding this skein very much.  He claimed it was itchy but we all know he just wanted to unleash the beast.

Let's get Ken dressed!

It's all about a boy....Contest!!

Contest_shot_1 This is Ken.  Ken makes my whole family and all my models very nervous.  Ken is a man in need of a wardrobe and I need your help.

IT'S A CONTEST!  The goal is simple: dress Ken.

Here are a few guidelines:  (I had to call them guidelines because the judge, Big B said he "wouldn't be constrained by mere rules".  Whatever!)

1.  One entry per person

2.  Try to suggest clothing that can be bought at Target, Walmart, or some toy store.   The thought of sewing little clothes for this dude unnerves me.

3.  Big B will pick the winning suggestion(s) and Ken will wear that outfit proudly at his next photo shoot.

4.  I have prizes!  I have a spinning prize and a knitting prize.  If you do both, you can pick which prize you'd like.  No pics yet but I'll give you a hint:  they both have Merino in them.

Deadline for entries is Saturday, July 29.  I'll announce the winner Sunday morning.

Let's go!!
