Eye Candy Friday

Dscn1876"Maneater" by Boogie.  She named it that.  Really.

Where I Live

Turns out there are a bunch more knitters/fiber freaks here than I thought.  Through Ravelry I received and invitation to join the CSRA Fiber Fanatics group through which I've found The Tangled Threads and have a new person joining us for knitting this Thursday.  That's a lot to take in, huh?  Here are some definitions:

Ravelry:  well, duh!

CSRA:  Central Savannah River Area  Where I live

CSRA Fiber Fanatics:  Ravelry group run by Donna for the above area.

The Tangled Threads:  A local fiber guild.  Though they don't have a website they do have a Yahoo group.  I'm hitting my first meeting December 8.  It's their Christmas party.  Good timing on my part or what?  I'll give you the skinny on the meeting.  You know I'm good for it.

Now I leave  you with a Rant from the ever popular Rants & Raves.

"God is not going to call you on your cell phone during the church service so turn off your cell phones and pagers like they ask you before the service starts."

Wisdom for the ages, people.

Progress

Dscn1872Even though I didn't have to travel for my Thanksgiving holiday, (thus providing extra time to knit, of course!) I did manage to squeeze in some knitting.  Usually during a football game.

Boogie's sock started the holiday looking like this.  Not too impressive, huh?  But, as I watched Alabama get beat like a baby seal by Auburn, (Roll Tide anyway!), Boogie's sock magically turned into this:

Dscn1875 An FO!  Even in defeat I find a victory of sorts.  And yes, the minute I finished I cast on for the second sock.  Yeah me!

Eye Candy Friday

Dscn1849My house is quiet now.  The three of us are on the sofa; Big B with his paper, Boogie with her stuffed Tigger engrossed in a cartoon and me writing to all of you.  Yesterday the house was filled with the sounds of laughter, football games, and colorful discussion.  Yesterday we hosted 15 people, (that includes my little family) for the first holiday we've all shared in about 20 years.  Yes, it's been that long since we've all been in one place at the same.  It's the reason we moved here; to be close to all of them and it was a glorious day.

You know, my head cold never let up and, in fact, had turned into bronchitis by Wednesday evening but it really didn't matter.  (I think it's mattering more today because I'm pooped!)

My house is quiet now.  But the joy and goodwill that I shared with my family yesterday is still here.  I think it will be for a long time to come.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hope that you're all surrounded by the ones you love and in a turkey coma!

Where I Live

I was scanning the local paper looking for a funny rant or rave the share with you from the Rants & Raves section.  Unfortunately it seems that the last couple of days have been nothing but venomous crap.  Well, there was one rant about someone trying to remove their lug nuts with a shotgun but I already threw that paper out.

Dscn1845 Instead I thought I'd share some more Fall photos.  Yea, I know.  It's not Eye Candy Friday but it is where I live.  Seriously.  There is a pond behind our house.  Actually, it's a green space.  The green space will never be developed even though another subdivision butts up against it.  When we were looking at this house, we the idea of our own bit of the wild very appealing.  We knew we'd never be able to afford a vast tract of land but this little corner suits us just fine.

Thanksgiving preparations are rolling right along.  The fambly will start rolling in tomorrow afternoon.  My cold is still making me miserable.  Is it too early in the festivities to start drinking?

Goodies

Dscn1859Look what I found on my doorstep Saturday morning!

This wonderful bunch of treats was from Naomi, my Coffeeswap 3 Pal.  I've already brewed some of the coffee and one of the chocolate bars has already been inhaled.  Thanks, Naomi!  (Your package is on the way.)

We are frantically getting ready for Thanksgiving.  I've got 12 people coming for dinner, a raging headcold and a house that looks like insane elves live here.  I could use a drink.

Eye Candy Friday

Dscn1842Have a wonderful weekend!

Where I Live

Last Wednesday I posted a bit from the section of my local paper called "Rants and Raves."  I like the entries that are neither a rant nor a rave but sort of an obscure piss and moan.  Like this entry from yesterday's paper:

"She's back.  The woman with the open mouth and the PTA hats."

The mind boggles at who this woman could be and why her mouth is open.  Is she speaking or is it something a bit naughtier?  I'll let your imagination run wild.

Dscn1839 Holy heel flap Batman!  Acutal knitting!

I may not be finishing anything but I am knitting.  This is a sock for Big B.  Big B has big feet so this is gonna take awhile.

Dscn1840 This is Boogie's sock. I'm pretty sure it will be finished way before Big B's.  Boogie picked out the yarn herself and every time I pull it out to work on it she asks to knit.  Is 3 1/2 too young to start knitting?

For the record, I posted these pics here FIRST, not on Ravelry.  I'm trying to be loyal to my blog.  We'll see how long that lasts.

Done it ourselves

Dscn1835We started the weekend with this.

Dscn1837 And ended with these.  'Course the stereo isn't actually hooked up but it's a step.
